hkFavorites version 1.2

Extend your use of HTML-Kit Desktop Files to manage favorite documents in HTML-Kit. You can have easy individual access to frequently edited documents stored in an Desktop File.


hkFavorites is a plugin for HTML-Kit. The plugin resides in the Tools section of the action bar in HTML-Kit.

To open a file, select an entry and press Enter, double click it, or use File...Open Selected. To open all files in list, use File...Open All.

To delete an entry from the list, select it and press Delete. To add a new entry, use File...Add File.

Executable program (with setup program) is available for download.

If you downloaded hkFavorites 1.2 before Wednesday Jan. 30 at 15:55 GMT+1, you may get the error "VBSmartXPMenu / Run-time error '429': ActiveX component can't create object". To eliminate this error, a corrected setup package (same filename and location) was put here at before mentioned time.

You fix this error by uninstalling hkFavorites, download again, and do a fresh install from the just downloaded setup package.

The installation program installs the hkFavorites plugin to the plugin folder of HTML-Kit, and installs some needed shared DLLs.

hkFavorites is distributed without Visual Basic 6.0 run-time library, which must be downloaded separately, e.g. from Microsoft. Chances are that you already have the library installed.
Microsoft XML 2.x library (MSXML.DLL) is not included in the distribution, but must be installed (normally installed because it is part of Internet Explorer and/or the operating system). If you do miss this dll, you can download MSXML 2.5 SP1 from Microsoft.
HTML-Kit build 292 introduced Desktop File support, but you can actually use hkFavorites with the earlier build 290, too.
